‘Bloody hypocrites’ – Nigerians blasts police over comment on IWD 2021

Some Nigerians have taken to the microblogging app, Twitter to blast and register their displeasure against the Nigeria Police Force over what they termed as hypocritical statement on the event of the International Women’s Day (IWD).

International Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence against women.

The Nigerian Police Force had on Monday 8th March, celebrated the IWD on their Twitter handle with the caption, “HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2021”.

Writing further, they described women as “Intelligent, Strong, Courageous, Undaunted and Dependable”

For so many reasons, this did not go well with Nigerians as they believe that the Nigeria Police have no respect for women folk and are in no place to celebrate women they brutalise at any given chance.
